ON THESE UNITED STATES

I have refrained from posting in the past few weeks in order to observe the social media blackouts in support of BLM. Like many Canadians, I have watched in abject horror at the continued erosion of the most sacred liberties cherished in the free world. As I resume posting on various topics within my blog, I begin with this simple concrete-poem. I wrote it over a year ago, and yet, find that it becomes increasingly relevant to this moment in our history.

I thus leave you with a quote from the John Webbe (though often mis-attributed to Father Benjamin Franklin).

[Freedom is] not a gift bestowed upon us by other men, but a right that belongs to us by the laws of God and nature.
